The heart of First UMC beats in rhythm with the needs of people in Uptown Charlotte and the surrounding community. Through outreach ministry, we seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus to a hungry, hurting world. We participate in volunteering in numerous agencies including:

• Urban Ministry, Crisis Assistance Ministry,
• Second Harvest, InnerVision
• Habitat for Humanity - Room In The Inn Ministry

First UMC is a host church every winter, providing food and shelter for homeless persons through the Room In The Inn program.

• Each year, members join for a day of service in “Mission Possible” Saturday.

• First UMC is a partner through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Community and Schools program with First Ward Elementary School.

Generous contributions give financial support and resources to organizations including these and others such as RAIN, Africa University and UMAR. With thankful hearts, we are committed “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly” with God.
